Wow, I gotta say, the quality presented here may very well beat those semi pro hd video cameras. I dont like however the visible adjustments of light, idk if its from utube or if its like this for real.
i agree. 24fps is the typical cinematic look and it looks great, love those old super8, 16mm and 35mm etc movies with 24 fps.. its movies at its best .. in other words: im buying one of those to make some movies for sure
Ha! Thats cool!
But nevermind. I hadnt played around with the settings yet, so it IS 5 minutes for 720P. But for quality under that is 20 minutes. Sorry for the confusion!
Incorrect. Saying “thats not very good” is simply your opinion. If looking for a more cinematic look, 24 FPS is the BEST because that is what film cameras shoot at. In the case of action videos (Sports, running) yes, 24FPS may not be as good as say 30 FPS but it is managable.

the sensor on the D90 is the same size as the D5000, there are only 2 sizes in Nikon DSLRs. The 35mm equiv full frame (on the flagship D3/D3s and the D700) and the 1.5x crop DX format. The Nikon D40, D60, D3000, D5000, D80, D90, D200, D300, D300s, etc. all use a 1.5x crop sensor. They are all the same size.
The D5000 has pretty much the same 12.3megapixel sensor as the D90, so image quality isn’t that much different.
DIWA gave the Gold award to D5000 in the category of Advance Digital Systems Camera and mainly on its superior image quality. DIWA is a grouping of many camera testers in the world. Each member conducts its own test on the physical attributes (duh not value) of certain camera model. Then a group w/in DIWA collates the test results. If the results is a consensus, then an award is given based on its award parameters. I did not say that the D5000 is a better camera than D90, but for me IQ matters.
Jaego – get the D5000 with its kit lens. It has an excellent image and video quality than the D90. And it fits your budget very well. While D90 is a notch over the D5000 in Nikon’s line-up, the D5000 gets most of its features from the D90 plus newer features not in the D90. I have tested both the conventional way and the D5000 got my nod in image quality. Image quality always matters. Google “D5000 DIWA Award” and you will know what I mean. DIWA is the most trusted camera testers in the world.
I have no idea as i own a D90 so i can only comment on that.
Its a trade off.
On the one hand you have a DSLR which means you have a virtually unlimited range of lenses which you can use, compared to a camcorder in the same price range, plus you have the huge image sensors of DSLRs compared to camcorders. However you need to watch out for jello effect with DSLRs because their image sensors don’t like too much fast panning.
Google it – there’s lots of info out there.
good test
shush
what about the audio?

Film is shot at that frame rate, but projected at 72fps (with a triple-bladed shutter so each frame is shown 3 times to avoid strobe).
8gb = 20 minutes? I have a Lumix FZ35 and record 1 hour with 8 gb, the advantages of AVCHD
This is so cool!
Sorry. But its an amazing camera.
Oh shit, you got my hopes up. haha. But I am getting it tomorrow I’m pumped.

Really? Good to know. And it’s random seeing your comment on this video, I use to watch your videos. ha

It’s actually the same frame-rate as film (real film, not digital).
24 frames per second.. that’s not very good..
With an 8GB card, I can record 20 minutes at a time.

5 mins max HD video? That’s it or because your card capacity was small?
