Thats true, no manual controls ( iris-W balance, etc.)the video Q i’ts not bad for SD, for details and regular ligthing will work just fine, if you wanna go for HD and manual controls Canon 5D ii Mark it’s just out of this world…..i use nikons but i think this would be my only canon
I see. Thank you for your response. After a long research period I decided to buy a Panasonic GH1. In think in video producing it’s the best. It can shoot in 60p. D90 doesnt’t have Autofocus feature but GH1 has. Moreover, GH1 has external mic outputs. You can also check it out.
Ok if you want to buy the Nikon for Video production, well it’s a bad idea, go for the Canon 7D. the lens that I have use for that one is the 50mm F1.4.
The result is good because I know my way around with the Nikon but still I have switch to Canon lately because Nikon video is knot that great compare to Canon
Did you used 18-105 mm VR Lens Kit in this video? I’m also planing to buy a D90 but for video producing. Do you suggest it to me for video producing? As it’s obvious from your video, the results are so good.
But it’s a bit unfortunate that Nikon will NOT fix the D90. Newer models will be made with the fix, but we shouldn’t even hope for a firmware fix. Else, they’re very late…
Nikon got a great lens I had to buy a Zeiss one on the Canon to regain the same quality. I just cross my finger that Nikon will fix couple of problems so I can switch back to Nikon
Indeed the only way is to lock the exposure, That is why I have switch to Canon 7D for the Manual control over the video, and the rolling shutter effect that is way les present.
I found out with my D90 that locking the exposure will prevent some subtile lightning change (that’s the auto exposure of movie mode compensating). For other lights flicking, we’re screwed – it’s due to the rolling shutter of the sensor. It’s not built for video, but does that very well anyway!
Well think. Hold down button? Or buy good camera. I don’t like bashing but I state obvious points. DSLR video just isn’t as good as production cameras.
well the costs of the cameras have many difference too, nikon is cheaper than canon. so you´d recommend to get the nikon one? what about a the mic connection?
Actually after all the test I prefer Nikon for the look but Nikon doesn’t have any manual control and that really is bad, that is the only reason why I have switch to Canon
pretty nice, very relaxing

How much is the difference between the GH1 and the Canon 7D ? because I would go for the 7D instead

Anyway, thank again for your response mate.

What do you want to say with: because Nikon lack of manual control?
Thanks for all
This video yes, BUT I bought a Canon because Nikon lack of Manual control. You can check out my other video made with the Canon to compare.
Sorry by my english, but… you filmed this whit the Nikon D90?
I am going to buy this camera, and I am fascinating
I have wanted for 1 year for that firmware so I gave up
But it’s a bit unfortunate that Nikon will NOT fix the D90. Newer models will be made with the fix, but we shouldn’t even hope for a firmware fix. Else, they’re very late…

But you can lock the exposure on the D90, only, yes it does lack manual controls. You can adjust exposure compensation however, but nothing else.
It’s fine enough for me.

This is pretty cool!
The low energy light flickr it’s really annoying, for more professional filming you need to watch what kind of light you use
i can’t help but notice the random brightness changes at some points, and when things are moving on the screen to much it seems to stutter to keep up
awesome video quality for an SLR, love how good the depth of field is! Think the D90 is my choice.
Well think. Hold down button? Or buy good camera. I don’t like bashing but I state obvious points. DSLR video just isn’t as good as production cameras.
@RoundTheBendFilms – there is also a way you can lock the exposure. this is a good vid

Canon Is Better… I like their 5D or 7D very cool quality..
