Testing zoom and autofocus Finepix S1800

Trying out the features on a Fujifilm FinePix S1800. Here I’m checking how well the autofocus responds to zooming in or out. You can hear the motor of the zoom mechanism wich is a real nuisance and the autofocus takes a while to adjust. Kind of disapointing to discover those ‘flaws’, but you have to remember it’s first and foremost a still pictures camera not a camcorder. I’m pretty sure the autofocus is something Fujifilm could fix with a firmware update.

In response to the FTU forum thread here www.fourthirds-user.com I produced this short clip to show how an Olympus Pen E-P2 copes with auto-focusing a Four Thirds Olympus Zuiko Digital 50mm f/2 macro lens, via the MMF-1 Four Thirds lens to Micro Four Thirds mount adapter.
